Love Lost at Sea (Flash Fiction)

(This week’s photo prompt is provided by Louise with The Storyteller’s Abode)

Gill stood agape on the boat with his arms stretched wide. The sight of Brandy among the rocks sickened him.

Gill, formally named Glaucas after the god of fishermen, felt his wrath reach the outer edges of the cosmos. His other love apart from the sea, the woman now crying in the fetal position, was named after Brandy from the Looking Glass song who’s true love was betrothed to the sea.

Deep inside, Gill had always known that a day of reckoning between Brandy and the sea would come. Still, he put forth one last ditch effort to save both.

“Next time I promise I’ll stop and ask for directions,” he pleaded with Brandy.
